Summary/Abstract: he aim of the conducted research is to describe the loanwords from the semantic field of slip-on shoe names in Polish and Croatian. A total of nineteen names for five types of shoes are analyzed, while the linguistic material is obtained from the latest Internet sources. The loanwords are examined in terms of their origin, type of borrowing, the way the word is adapted to the recipient language and their presence in lexicographic sources. The results of the study show that the different types of shoes have lexical variants, the donor language is English or, less frequently, French, and the most common type of borrowing is proper borrowing.
