Summary/Abstract: In this study, I present the linguistic legal situation and educational opportunities of the Hungarian ethnic group living in Austria (especially the Hungarian diaspora).I also discuss the ethnolinguistic vitality of the Hungarian allochthonous ethnic group in Austria. I consider it particularly important to present the situation of the ethnic group in a complex way in order to draw critical conclusions about the situation and possibilities of Hungarian education. In my study, I will also discuss the Austrian (non-dominant) version of Hungarian as a pluricentric language, as well as the latest discourses of Austrian minority policy and Hungarian diaspora policy. In many respects, I believe that knowledge of the situation of the Hungarian diaspora in Austria, the educational problems and achievements of this ethnic group, can serve as a model for other Hungarian allochthonous groups in Western Europe and the world.
