Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine children’s games in Vojlovica, with particular attention to the ethnographic and community aspects of play culture in the period between 1945 and 1965. The research explored the types of games characteristic of this outlying Hungarian settlement in Vojvodina, their role in everyday life, and their influence on the deeper acquisition of language skills. Special emphasis was placed on the locations of games, gender-based divisions in play, and the relationship networks within children’s communities. Particular interest was devoted to the interaction of ethnic groups and to the ways in which a multilingual, multicultural environment shaped children’s play. The study also outlines the ethnic composition of Vojlovica. – Since 2024, as a member of the Lower-Danube Workshop, I have conducted regular ethnographic fieldwork in the settlement, mainly through interviews with members of the older generation. During three fieldwork vis- its in 2024–2025, I focused on the former folk children’s games of Petőfi Sándor Street – locally known as Magyar Street – as well as on ethnic distribution patterns and questions of language learning.
