Summary/Abstract: This article examines the organisation of leisure activities for children and adolescents in the Gdańsk Voivodeship between 1945 and 1956, based on selected examples. To date, this topic has not received sufficient scholarly attention; previous studies have addressed it incompletely, focusing instead on leisure activities across broader age groups. The primary aim of this research is to analyse the forms and organisation of leisure activities for children and adolescents in the early post-war years and to lay the groundwork for further comprehensive studies in this field. The analysis draws mainly on local archival materials preserved in Gdańsk, as well as on articles published in Dziennik Bałtycki during the investigated period. The findings indicate that, in the immediate post-war years, the organisation of tourism and recreation was largely improvised due to challenging material conditions, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of qualified personnel. Consequently, the main responsibility for organising leisure activities rested with social organisations. From the late 1940s onwards, the state gradually assumed control over this sphere, introducing ideological elements into leisure programmes. Nevertheless, the range of recreational and cultural activities continued to expand, often owing to grassroots initiatives.
