Summary/Abstract: Sophocles' Antigone is one of the most frequently reinterpreted ancient plays, as the title character embodies opposition to authority, which allows this motif to be used to illustrate contemporary social and political problems. The article briefly discusses several examples of such retelling in the new millennium: Katyń (2007), The Burial at Thebes (2004), Antigone—How Dare We! (2020), Arch-Conspirator (2023), but its primarily focus lies on Sophie Deraspe's 2019 film Antigone.
