Summary/Abstract: The variability of the modern world poses new, difficult challenges for the school as an educational institution and for the teacher, because it generates a very important need to adapt the process of education and upbringing of the young generation to the dynamics of the ongoing transformations. A huge role in these activities falls to the teacher, who is faced with new, difficult tasks and challenges that determine the need to permanently expand the scope of his / her professional duties. The modern pedagogue is expected to undertake many different activities of an innovative and even experimental nature, which at the same time requires continuous professional development aimed at achieving teacher professionalism, which is a key factor determining the quality of educational processes in a dynamically changing, increasingly demanding world. The aim of this article is to analyze the key aspects of the professionalism of the modern teacher in the context of the needs and requirements of modern times and taking into account the ambiguity and undefined nature of pedagogical work.
