Summary/Abstract: The poetry of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš is examined here in the light of the motif of nature that always supplies the arms, a motif recurrent in both classical and modern times. Its earliest appearance can be traced back to Anacreontic i.e. Greek poetry read by Njegoš in the Russian translation. Subsequently, in modern literature, the very same motif reappears in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry`s famous novella The Little Prince. Thus, the recurrence of the motif points to its universal value on a spatio-temporal continuum across world literatures.
