Living conditions and the financial situation of local government in cities with county rights in Poland in 2008–2022

Summary/Abstract: The article conducts a study of living conditions and financial situation in cities with county rights in 2008-2022. The purpose of the study was to diagnose the living conditions of the population and financial situation of the cities under study and to determine the relationship between these aspects of urban development. Data from the Local Data Bank was used as source material and the taxonomic method of distance according to Z. Hellwig's formula was applied. The research showed that in the period after 2008, living conditions in cities improved, while their financial situation deteriorated. At the same time, there was no correlation between the change in the financial situation and living conditions, which indicated that statistically these are independent planes of functioning of centers with county rights.
