Summary/Abstract: The article compares the potential of vineyards as assets for the development of oenotourism in selected cities in Poland. The analysis included five cities in Poland, where vineyards are located. The research was based on a literature review by both Polish and foreign authors, and interviews conducted with wine-makers. The study discusses the phenomenon of a new form of tourism, oenotourism (vinitourism) which is noticeably rapidly gaining popularity with Poles. The paper analyzes the country’s potential for a tourism product such as oenotourism, which is currently the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry. The purpose of the study was to examine the importance of vineyards for urban development and urban oenotourism, with the assumption that oenotourism, with its growing popularity, can be an important factor in the socio-economic development of cities. The arguments presented confirm the opinion that vineyards play an important role in urban development, but their influence on creating urban development in Poland is not yet strong enough. The results of the analysis suggest that vinitourism has sufficient potential to become an important fac-tor influencing the development of cities in Poland. Despite this, there are some challenges that need to be resolved to fully realize the potential of vineyards and oenotourism.
