Summary/Abstract: This article presents references to the Christianization mission of Otto of Bamberg found in the West Pomeranian historiography of the 14th century, exemplified by the so-called Protocollum by Augustine from Stargard, set in the context of other Pomeranian accounts and documents that emerged during the reign of Barnim III, who attributed particular importance to preserving the memory of Otto of Bamberg. Otto of Bamberg was made in the 14th century a national saint, and the Christianization of Pomerania was an element of the narrative about the beginnings of the bishopric and Duchy of Pomerania, influencing the shaping of the sense of community and identity of the Pomeranians, and above all, the independence of the duchy and bishopric.
