Summary/Abstract: The subject of the analysis in this article is the issue of women’s empowerment in the provisions of Old Testament law. The process of “noticing” women’s rights in the patriarchal society of ancient Israel can be observed already in the oldest collection of laws in the Pentateuch (Exod. 21,2–21: fair treatment of a female slave in the role of a potential wife). The gradual expansion of their scope is also visible later in the later Deuteronomic Codex (Deut. 24,1–4; 25,5–11: legal emancipation of a widow woman) and legal supplements from Num 27,1–11; 36,1–12 (inheritance law).
