Summary/Abstract: Several historical and linguistic testimonies can strengthen our conviction that the area between the Danube, Tisa and Mures known as Banat has an ancient history, and the continuity of the life of the autochthonous people cannot be contested. Whether we are talking about hydronyms, place names or other words related to social organization, there is plenty of evidence to prove that a native population existed and continued to live in the area.
