Summary/Abstract: The year 2023, which is fast drawing to a close, has been dedicated to the pastoral care and support of the elderly and the commemorative year of hymnographers and church singers by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church with the title: Commemorative Year of the Pastoration of the Elderly and Commemorative Year of Hymnographers and Church Singers (psalters). During the course of the year, various articles and studies were published in numerous newspapers and magazines, in which the themes of this commemorative and commemorative year were addressed. Being, therefore, about hymnographers, church singers and, implicitly, about church singing, we propose in this article to present the position of St. Niceta of Remesiana on the importance of psalmody.
