Summary/Abstract: St. Simeon the New Theologian is one of the Eastern mystics, thanks to whom Orthodox mystical theology reaches its high point. He is the one who developed the mystical ideas of his predecessors. From his entire work, what interests us are the Catechesis. Catechesis are speeches addressed by St. Simeon to the monks of the monastery of St. Mamas, and others are letters of spiritual guidance addressed to the same monks, such as Catechesis 12, 17, 19 and 26. Through his catechesis, he tries to show the need of every Christian to have a living contact with God, to enter into a personal communion with Jesus Christ. Although it is largely addressed to monks - as I mentioned, catechesis can be an authentic way of living for every Christian. Therefore, the present study seeks to bring to the listener’s attention the value of personal experience with Christ in the lives of young people, as evidenced by the catechetical writings of St. Simeon. Since young people are the most vulnerable in relation to the times we live in, catechesis can become a spiritual landmark for them.
