THE INTEGRATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENHANCING THE COMPREHENSION OF LITERARY TEXTS AMONG SECOND-YEAR ALGERIAN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Summary/Abstract: This study aims to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing literary text comprehension among second-year Algerian university students. Starting from the reading comprehension difficulties encountered by learners of Italian as a foreign language, the research investigates whether AI-based tools can support students in interpreting literary texts, developing inferential strategies, and improving overall textual understanding. A combined qualitative and quantitative analysis is proposed, focusing on learners’ comprehension accuracy, lexical interpretation, and ability to construct coherent interpretations of literary texts. The expected outcomes include improved reading comprehension performance in the experimental group and the identification of effective pedagogical practices for integrating artificial intelligence into literary reading instruction at the university level.
