Summary/Abstract: This study aims to investigate the impact of simplified narrative input on the development of writing competence in first-year students of Italian as a foreign language (FL). Starting from the writing difficulties encountered by learners, the research seeks to determine whether exposure to simplified narrative texts can support the improvement of writing skills. A combined analysis of quantitative and qualitative data will be carried out, focusing on students’ progress in terms of vocabulary, syntax, and textual coherence. The expected results include a significant increase in writing competence within the experimental group and the identification of effective teaching strategies for the use of simplified narrative input.
