Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the activities of the Jaskółka Theatre (Teatr Jaskółka) — one of the first artistic children’s theatres in Poland with an educational mission. The aim of the article is to fill the gaps in the history of the group and to present the views of its director. The theatre operated between 1929 and 1933, and its activity can be divided into three stages, each associated with a change in management and artistic vision. The article is also divided into three parts. The first reconstructs and supplements the theatre’s history by providing a detailed list of premieres with exact dates, names of actors and collaborators, and a clarification of terminology and chronology. The second part analyses Janina Strzelecka’s pedagogical ideas, based on her 1931 booklet Goals and Educational Tasks of a Theatre for Children and Youth. The final part examines the educational approach of the theatre’s creators and compares Jaskółka with the model of children’s theatre developed in the Soviet Union, with particular attention to the issue of political influence on theatre for young audiences.
