Summary/Abstract: The Decree of the provveditore extraordinario of Kotor Marco Zorzi (1795), kept in the Savina Monastery Archive in Boka Kotorska, is an important testimony about the situation in the monastery. We learn about the circumstances, relations and events which marked the life of Savina monastery at the very end of Venetian dominion, as well as the final works on the monastery’s Big Church refurbishment (1777–1797). This document resolves a months-long dispute in Savina Monastery between two monks, Simeon Lučić and Nikanor Bogetić, and their archimandrite Inokentije Dabović. In order to finally return peace to the monastery, as well as to prevent possible future conflicts and disputes, with this decree, the extraordinary provveditore set rules to protect the monastic community. Besides the crisis in the monastery, the Decree also shows the jurisdiction and attitude of Venetian authorities towards Orthodox monasteries and monks, as well as the concrete actions of local authorities in the community by applying appropriate measures, in order to preserve order and peace.
