Summary/Abstract: This article examines the interplay between deonymization and social, political transformation processes that culminate in the concept of the ‘Zeitenwende’ (historical turning point). From a discourse-linguistic perspective, it analyzes how proper names in public media discourse (Exit Discourse, Gate Discourse, Scholzing Discourse, War Discourse) evolve into carriers of new semantic functions, what discursive framings accompany this process, and how such deonyms reference collective interpretive patterns and narrative structures. The article presents a theoretically and empirically stimulating investigation that sheds light on a previously underexplored field within discourse linguistics: the productive role of deonyms as vehicles of discursive semantic shift in times of societal upheaval.
