The monograph Deities of Fate: Archetypes, Prehistory, Manifestations (Vol. 1) by Assoc. Prof. Maya Alexandrova is the first systematic and interdisciplinary study in Bulgaria of goddesses of fate and of female deities more generally. The book combines structuralism, comparative religion, and analytical psychology; employs etymological and semiotic anal- yses of the “thread–cloth–knot” motif. The monograph proposes a clear typology of triadic and singular manifestations through the archetype of the Great Mother and demonstrates its continuity from prehistory, through Antiquity, to European folklore, with comparison to Balkan–Slavic examples. Drawing on a rich linguistic and iconographic corpus, the work establishes itself as a key reference and outlines a coherent research framework.
