Points of Contact between the EU and the Holy See

Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the current relationship between the European Union and the Holy See in the light of the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. It focuses first on the legal foundations of this relationship and then on the common denominators of these two sui generis bodies of international law; it identifies these as primarily the human factor, shared values and possibilities for cooperation. The article concludes that cooperation in the area of values and in other areas is not only legally possible, but provides a large untapped space for the development of future relations.
