Summary/Abstract: The text is concerned with the functions of Job’s situation in "Brief Sun" by Stanislav Stratiev. The paper analyzes how it is included in the conversation of Sashkova's grandmother with God and how it corresponds with other plot moments of the work. The significance of Job’s situation for shaping the overall artistic meaning of "Brief Sun" is explored. Through the prism of Job’s situation an examination is made of the opposition idealism – pragmatism, which defines the relationship between Sashko and his friends.
