Republic of Serbia – Republic of Ireland Library "Dimitrije Tucović" Lazarevac – Glanmire Library

Summary/Abstract: In the library and information sector, a number of visible changes have occurred in the last few years, driven by the progressive development of information and communication technologies. Since the founding of libraries, their role has been to house, apply rules for the storage and use of materials. After all the technological changes, the mission of libraries around the world has remained the same, the dissemination of knowledge. While visiting various countries around the world, I realized that the founding of libraries always has the same reason, and that the most important role in their successful work is played by the librarian. While staying in the Republic of Ireland and visiting libraries, I realized that their work is not much different from ours, and in this paper I wanted to compare the "DimitrijeTucović" Library in Lazarevac and the City Library in Glanmire. I would highlight the similarities and differences, and especially the same mission they represent in educating both younger and older users. The conclusion, however, is that librarians are key figures in educating the population all over the world.
