Who likes 'Ballads and Romances'

Summary/Abstract: This article explores the traces of 'Ballads and Romances' in contemporary Polish literature – Andrzej Stasiuk’s 'Tales of Galicia' is the focus. The author not only identifies textual tropes connecting them to Mickiewicz’s cycle but also seeks to uncover deeper connections between the contemporary world and the world of the Romantics: from the experience of catastrophe to an interest in the lived experience of a specific individual.
