Summary/Abstract: The First World War destroyed the three multinational empires in Europe. Never before had Great Powers in every respect – political, economic, military, etc. – been wiped off the world map. Months earlier, armies composed of a collection of nations and other nations faced each other on the battlefield and won battles. Throughout history, there have been great states that have suffered defeats and suffered the consequences of this – loss of territory, reparations, disarmament, etc., but the disappearance of an empire (Austro-Hungary), which ruled almost all of Central Europe, is a historical precedent with significant and grave consequences. Apparently, even before this, the monarchy had been shaken by national contradictions, but it continued to exist, not so much because of its own efforts, but because of the nature of the international political system, mainly as a result of the policy of “balance of power”, which guaranteed its integrity, but until the beginning of the Great War.
