НОВОБЪЛГАРСКОТО ОБРАЗОВАНИЕ В МАКЕДОНИЯ ПРЕЗ ЕПОХАТА НА ВЪЗРАЖДАНЕТО (НАЧАЛОТО НА XVIII ВЕК – 1878 Г.)
MODERN BULGARIAN EDUCATION IN MACEDONIA IN THE AGE OF REVIVAL (THE BEGINNING OF 18th CENTURY – 1878)

Summary/Abstract: This article is an overview of the development of the Bulgarian educational institutions in Macedonia in the age of Revival (until 1878). It shows representative data for Bulgarian schools and teachers in different parts of the region including statistical data on the number of schools, teachers, and students. Similar trends with other Bulgarian territories have been revealed on the basis of primary sources. We highlight the preconditions for the slower development of the Bulgarian schooling in Macedonia and systematize facts about the distribution of modern Bulgarian books and the establishment of cultural institutions (chitalishta). In the article we also analyze the support from more developed municipalities and cities for the education in Macedonia.
