Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes words of Turkic origin found in Northern Ukrainian texts of the 16th–17th centuries. It is noted that Turkisms actively penetrated the Ukrainian language primarily with the realia they denoted. It was traced based on the dictionary of the Ukrainian language of the 14th–15th centuries that most of the analyzed lexemes entered the recipient language in the 16th–17th centuries. In the process of development, only isolated Turkisms passed into the passive vocabulary (делия, делюра), while the majority remained in active use, undergoing various lexico-semantic processes: expansion of lexico-semantic variants (єрмяк, жупан, кафтан, колпак, сукман, опанча, шлик), which was connected with a change in the external appearance of the realia; narrowing of semantics (kobeniak), semantic reintegration (башмак, кобеняк, кунтуш, кутас, чобот, чуга, шуба), and specialization of meanings (башмак, чобот).
