Summary/Abstract: The article discusses word by word the first paragraph of Genesis. Two types of expressions – autosemanticand synsemantic – have been analysed from linguistic positions. The analysis has revealedlarge interpretational spaces which are difficult, even impossible, to penetrate without the knowledgeof Biblical Hebrew.
