Summary/Abstract: This study examines the residential space and material culture of Francis Haraszti, a court knight active in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, focusing on his dwelling within the castle of Levice. By analysing royal charters, legal testimonies and the detailed petitions of Haraszti’s widow, Sophia Bathyani, the article reconstructs the structure, function and furnishings of the domus thavernicalem and its adjoining rooms. These spaces housed not only Haraszti and his immediate family but also valuable household goods, jewellery, textiles and documents, reflecting the economic power and social ambitions of the Haraszti clan. The study highlights the complex dynamics of property ownership, inheritance conflicts and pledging practices among the Hungarian nobility, offering insights into daily life, domestic arrangements and elite material culture at the turn of the 16th century.
