Summary/Abstract: Recent mapping campaigns along the valley of the Apa Mare stream have drawn attention to a portion of the Vinga High Plateau. Nevertheless, archaeological knowledge of this area remains limited, highlighting the need for further investigations. In this context, two medieval sites—Mănăștur–5/Monostor and Vinga–78/Seleus—have been identified, which, based on current evidence, are presumed to correspond to the settlements mentioned in medieval documents. However, confirming this hypothesis requires intrusive archaeological research. Looking ahead, we propose extending this integrated methodology to other medieval settlements in the Banat region by combining systematic surface surveys with archival and cartographic analysis. Moreover, to fully understand settlement dynamics, it is essential to contextualize fortified medieval sites within the broader landscape of contemporary settlements that had secondary or seasonal functions.
