Summary/Abstract: The Church of St. George in Zlatolist, built in 1853, was declared a local cultural monument in 1975. Archival records at the National Institute of Immovable Cultural Heritage in Sofia have documented the iconostasis, noting 21 icons in the feasts tier in 1975, which have decreased to 17 by 1980. Today, the entire tier consists of printed reproductions. This paper investigates when and how the missing icons disappeared and where they might be now. Although the archives provide some clues, the matter requires further research.
