Summary/Abstract: Social law represents a fundamental domain of modern law, with a particular focus on the protection and promotion of rights and interests related to work, social insurance and social protection. Knowledge of these legal relationships is essential for understanding the mechanisms of social justice and ensuring effective protection of workers and vulnerable categories. Unlike classic private law, which is based on the autonomy of will and formal equality between parties, social law recognizes real inequalities and imposes corrective measures to ensure equity and protection of vulnerable categories. This branch of law has undergone a complex evolution, from the first measures of labor protection in the 19th century to contemporary sophisticated systems of social protection, reflecting the social, economic and political transformations of modern societies. The emergence of social law as a distinct and autonomous domain of law was the result of fundamental transformations of modern society, which made necessary a specific legal approach to social problems. Thus, a response was provided to the concrete needs generated by the industrial revolution and the structural transformations of the economy and society, marking a paradigm shift in legal thinking and in the role of the state towards citizens. Starting from the need to understand the importance of social law and the manner in which this branch of law has developed over time, this study aims to trace and describe the genesis and evolution of the european social law, highlighting the fundamental historical stages, from the first measures to the current system of social protection.
