Summary/Abstract: This paper provides an analytical overview of the texts published in Napredak’s Calendar, the annual of the Croatian Cultural Society Napredak, which was issued in Sarajevo from 1907 to 1948. The focus is placed on works thematically related to the past of Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressed to the Croatian, Catholic, and Muslim population in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and deeply shaped by the political and ideological circumstances of the time in which they were written. Through its selection of topics and its narration of the past, Napredak’s Calendar represents a space in which historiography of a particular period was created and presented, but also a space in which an ideologically controlled image of the past was constructed. The aim of this paper is therefore to examine Napredak’s Calendar as a site where ideology, historiography, and intellectual activity intersected in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the first half of the 20th century.
