Summary/Abstract: An arranged marriage is a type of marital union where families or guardians prearrange the marriage of two individuals, often without their full consent, or even without their knowledge. The practice of arranged and forced marriages is present in various cultures and religions around the world. When it comes to minors, arranged marriages become even more complex and problematic, as they may involve coercion, lack of consent, and severe consequences for the physical and mental health of the child. Child marriages often result in limited access to education, increased risks of violence and early pregnancies, and reduced economic and social opportunities for girls, who are primarily affected by this practice. The fight against arranged and child marriages requires education, strengthening legal protection, i.e., the full implementation of laws, and changes in social norms to ensure that marriage is a result of the free and personal choice and mutual consent of adults.
