Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to characterise S. Piasecki’s literary vision of the multiethnic world of the Polish- Belarusian borderland in the interwar period. For this purpose, an analysis of anthroponyms from his novel “Kochanek Wielkiej Niedźwiedzicy” (The Lover of Ursa Major) was conducted. The novel’s surnames, first names and ethnonyms were treated as deixis that allow for indicating ethnic areas on the world map of the novel and for establishing their valuation. The conclusions concern Piasecki’s writing practice which involves, on the one hand, using novel onomastics to mark ethnic areas, but, on the other hand, blurring their boundaries in favour of constructing areas of social, ideological and ethical strangeness and familiarity.
