Summary/Abstract: The structure of the homeland concept includes permanent (nuclear) and variable components, conditioned by subjective factors and a broad social, political and cultural context. Homeland, being an ideologized concept and saturated with emotions, because it remains in a network of numerous connections and entanglements – with the nation, history, tradition, religion, language, land of the fathers and the memory of ancestors – is sometimes used by politicians and ideologists as a tool for propaganda or campaign and election purposes. The article analyses the profiling of the concept of homeland in five public discourses: 1) Catholic (in its variants: institutional-Church, liberal-Catholic, national-Catholic), 2) liberal-democratic, 3) national-right, 4) left-wing, 5) anarchist, radical liberal. The profiles of homeland are dynamic in them – they oscillate between three situations: real (underlying the concept is a modal judgment: the homeland as it is), desirable (the homeland as it should be) and possible (the homeland as it can be).
