Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to analyze Sūrah al-Kawthar (a Meccan chapter consisting of three verses) using the thematic method of Qur’anic interpretation (at-tafsīr al-mawḍūʿī), through the exegeses of Imām al-Ṭabarī, Ibn Kathīr, Muḥammad al-Ghazālī, Sayyid Quṭb, and Ibn ʿAbbās. The chosen topic implies an elucidation of the asbāb an-nuzūl of Sūrah al-Kawthar and a detailed examination of each of its three verses through the mentioned commentaries. In addition to the introduction, the paper includes a discussion and a conclusion highlighting the lessons and messages relevant to time and place, since Qur’anic teachings and messages are of a universal nature — intended to nourish every generation from the Holy Source (the Qur’an). Sūrah al-Kawthar is dedicated to the Prophet Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and, as such, represents a portrayal of an episode from the life of the prophetic mission and from the life of the early missionaries during the first period of revelation (the Meccan period).
