Summary/Abstract: The life and work of Mehmed Džemaludin-ef. Čaušević have been the subject of continuous scholarly attention and publication for nearly a century. His enlightening role is immeasurable, particularly in the promotion of religious enlightment in the Bosnian language and in the reorganization and reforms of cultural and educational institutions in line with the spirit of modern times. In addition to his profoundly diverse religious and social engagement, Džemaludinef. Čaušević managed to write dozens of notable works covering a wide range of Islamic sciences: tafsir, ʿaqīdah, akhlāq, and the history of Islam. As numerous well-documented testimonies of social and historical contributions of this thinker and reformer are already widely known and accessible today, this paper briefly presents several characteristics of his written works, focusing particularly on the segment related to the study of the Islamic belief. In several of his articles published in periodicals of the time, we encounter engaging discussions of issues concerning Islamic belief. Čaušević approaches theological subjects more comprehensively and systematically in the extensive introductory text of his translation of the Noble Qur’an, as well as in the commentaries provided under the translated Qur’anic verses.
