Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the challenges associated with the transformation of the EU’s Common Securityand Defence Policy in the wake of fundamental shifts in the security environment following theoutbreak of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022. It focuses on key strategic and institutionalchanges, including the implementation of the Strategic Compass, the bolstering of defence capabilities and capacities, and technological sovereignty. Concurrently, it identifies obstacles to theeffective coordination and implementation of defence initiatives at member state level.
