Summary/Abstract: This essay examines the relationship between architecture, aesthetics, and the sacred, including against the backdrop of Slovak realities. It asks what simplicity means for the construction of beautiful sacred spaces. It concludes that the best form of their relationship is when the religious function relinquishes its overly obvious emphasis and simply emerges from the aesthetic experience, which is only possible because the building is what it is, a work of masterful craftsmanship.
