School and the Romanian Language on North of the Tisa River – General Considerations

Summary/Abstract: In the 18th century, documents show an increase in the number of young people studying in schools in Maramureș. Maria Theresa initiated a series of reforms in the field of education, based on German and French pedagogical principles, which allowed equal access to education for both the rich and the poor. However, it was noted that most of the young people who studied came from noble families.
