Summary/Abstract: This paper proposes a theoretical, analytical and comparative approach to translations, in the context in which linguistic hegemony implies a power relationship between languages. Thus, the number of translations produced from/into a given language depends on the position that the respective languages/literatures occupy on a global scale. Translation becomes in this context not only an act of communication, but also an act of power. We will examine the conflicts of the translation act on several levels: linguistic, ideological, electronic and media warfare.
