Summary/Abstract: The evolution of the concept of international stability is directly and almost completely dictated by the concept of nuclear stability, and the concept of deterrence from nuclear war has its almost sixty-year history in various agreements that speak in favor of it. Nuclear weapons literally decisively decide on changes in the entire world politics. The power that weapons bring unequivocally reaches global proportions and it is the only one that represents real authority. We are witnesses that the perception of maintaining global security was based on the strategic dialogue between Moscow and Washington for several decades, when it comes to nuclear weapons. The emergence of nuclear weapons has also highlighted nuclear deterrence as a concept, implying that the enemy is deterring offensive actions. The author starts from the problematic question of whether nuclear weapons still represent a means of deterrence in the 21st century. The answer that we want to confirm with this paper is that the existence of nuclear weapons still represents the main means of deterrence in the multipolar order. Namely, the nuclear powers are still not ready to sit at the same negotiating table, which largely maintains the atmosphere of tension and fear of a potential nuclear conflict by qualitatively strengthening military capacities and mutual intimidation
