Summary/Abstract: Augustine’s life is characterized by an existential tension between the sensory and the intellect. The mens serves as the locus where this crisis unfolds, caught between a return to oneself and a departure from oneself. The alienation caused by sin engenders this inner dialectic of self-struggle. The admonitio emerges as a warning, functioning as a call to liberate Augustine from all alienation and facilitate an effective return to self. It guides him toward the path of Truth, attuned to wisdom.
