Summary/Abstract: The short story Lili: A Sorrowful Idyll dates from the earliest phase of Władysław Stanisław Reymont’s work and has not yet become the subject of in-depth literary research. The purpose of this article is to present the results of a genetic analysis of the short story’s manuscript and to draw conclusions from a comparison of the manuscript with the work’s first edition, published in 1899.
