Summary/Abstract: The release of large quantities of hazardous substances into the natural environment results in a number of environmental problems due to their non-degradability and persistence, they can accumulate in the food chain and thus can pose a significant threat to human health. Heavy metals are major pollutants in all water areas. Heavy metals are discharged into the effluents and contaminate water sources near industrial sites. One of these pollutants is chromium. The oxidative form of chromium includes: Cr(VI) and Cr(III); of which the Cr(VI) form is toxic to the environment, because it is carcinogenic, toxic and highly soluble. For these reasons, its removal is necessary. Although various methods are known for the removal of heavy metal ions, adsorption has proven to be a successful method for determining the adsorption characteristics of various natural mineral materials for the elimination of Cr(VI) ions from industrial wastewater. For this purpose, natural inorganic materials from different localities in our country were selected: pemza pumice, trepel, aksil, bentonite, SiO2-amorphous. From the results, it can be concluded that these low-cost adsorbents can be successfully applied as sorbents for the removal of Cr(VI) ions from wastewater
