Summary/Abstract: This article examines one of the longest-lasting conflicts in the Middle East, whose intensity and brutality have increased in recent years. Tracing the origins of the Is-raeli-Palestinian conflict, the text analyzes the religious and political motives of both sides, thereby presenting the complex context of the international situation. The fu-ture development of the territories that have today become an arena of armed clash-es is also addressed. Local Palestinian clans, possessing armed formations, may prove to be a key factor in the peaceful resolution of the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
