Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is a tombstone memorial sign in the shape of a cross, on which there is no name, year or any written information about the buried person. An answer is sought to the question of who the sign was intended for, its approximate time of manufacture and to what extent such types of monuments are in the tradition and canon of the Orthodox cult of the dead. The examples cited from different regions of Bulgaria, dating from the 19th century, confirm the hypothesis that the monument is of a child, most likely who died before being baptized.
