THE FOLKLORIC DIMENSION IN THE WORK CHIŞINĂUL DE CÂNDVA FOR FLUTE AND STRING ORCHESTRA BY VLAD BURLEA

Summary/Abstract: The work of composer Vlad Burlea offers a vast field for the study of various aspects related to musical art, compositional techniques, tradition and modernity, etc. The theme of incorporating folkloric sources in Vlad Burlea’s works represents adistinct subject, within which we can identify different levels of this phenomenon: from the direct use of folk material and itspassage through the creative and compositional filter specific to academic music (of the chamber orchestra, the symphonicorchestra, the piano, and others), to the absorption of elements of musical folklore into a complex texture that reveals a sophisticated contemporary compositional language. “Chişinăul de cândva” for flute and string orchestra is a compelling example ofthe use of folklore in compositional creation.
