EUROPEAN FUNDS AND PROGRAMMES FOR THE RENOVATION OF CHURCH TEMPLES

Summary/Abstract: The temple is the centre of social, spiritual, and cultural life, and it is necessary to keep it in good condition. The article presents and analyses European programmes through which ways can be sought to more rationally solve the problems related to the improvement of church temples. It was concluded that the implementation of projects under the operational programmes of the European Union, providing grants for the reconstruction and renovation of churches, is a good opportunity to improve church properties. The implementation of such projects is relatively effective and promising; it has a beneficial and meaningful impact on the development of society and its spiritual maturation and revival. These projects have a sustainable character because the activities continue even after the completion of the projects, both in terms of the target group and in terms of the applicant organisation.
